You control a group of rookie recruits over 24 missions ranging from the simple shooting anyone in sight to rescuing hostages and kidnaping enemy soldiers.
As each mission is completed the surviving soldiers, (which are all named to create an emotional bond) increase in rank.
To help in the destruction you start off with a simple machine gun with unlimited ammo, but during missions you can get your hands on delights such as rockets, grenades, heat seekers and vehicles suchs as jeeps, tanks, helicopters. In the snow environments a you even get to use a skidoo.
The enemy soldiers hide in the jungle camouflaged waiting to take pot shots at you and your men. They also lay trip bombs that can quickly tear apart your group.

The sprites are rather small, but quite well detailed and animated.
Think along the lines of Lemmings with a uniform and gun.
Backgrounds are varied ranging from jungle, desert, snow to underground caverns.

The title music uses a lot of sampled speech and is a classic that just has to be heard.
"War has never been so much fun" needs to be played loud and proud!
The sound effects add to the atmosphere, birds in the back ground for example.
Also sound effects get louder the closer you are to the source.

All Amiga retro game collectors need this in their collection.
Cannon Fodder is just so much fun to play, and you really feel bad when one of your guys that have served you so well in previous missions gets killed.
The title music just rounds off one of the best ever Amiga games.
