As a magician's apprentice, you have been turned into an owl to give you the best chance of destroying the many dark creatures to be faced, and thus discovering the secret of cosmic strength.

Agony is a sideways scrolling shootem-up where you control an Owl, no spaceships here!
You have to defeat wave after wave of insects, including ants and mosquitoes over six levels.
Agony has a more laid back feel compared to manic shooters such as Project X, but there are various enemies with differing attack modes, objects that can be picked up
to enhance your attacks, and a large powerful enemy at the end of each level.

The graphics are excellent as expected from a Psygnosis release.
The Owl has some really very good animation as it flaps its wings, there are 3 layers of parallax scrolling, and some excellent backgrounds.
Of note is the first level with a raging sea and rain pouring down.

There is a great piece of piano intro music by Tim Wright, while the in games music doesnt reach the intro's standard, it's sufficiently frantic.

A great game for those that want a less frantic shootem-up, and one that highlights the power of the Amiga yet again.
