A selection that even a person with the slightest of interest
in gaming from the early 80’s and 90’s would be able
to pick out at one title that would bring the memories flooding
back.
Perhaps the games that stand out most to hardcore gamers are
the games by Williams, the likes of Defender, Robotron and Joust.
Robotron seemingly being the arcade machine everyone wants to
own!
For me Marble Madness, Gauntlet and Smash TV have given me the
most enjoyment, but there are no real turkeys here, everyone will
be able to find their favourites.
I must mention the emulation of Smash TV on the Playstation 2
though.
The frame rate is rather slow and graphics are a bit glitchy,
but thankfully the Xbox version doesn’t suffer from the
same fate.
All of the games allow you to alter playing parameters, the equivalent
to setting the dip switches on the original arcade machine, and
your scores can be uploaded online.
The compilation includes FMV interviews with the people behind
the games along with concept artwork, which help to make the pack
great value for money.
