The evil organisation Neo Zeed has kidnapped Shinobi's girlfriend Naoko and killed his master. Using his power of stealth he invades the territories of Neo Zeed to avenge his master and save his bride to be.

As Joe Musashi, you have to complete 8 districts, each ditrict has 3 levels and at the end of the district there is a end of level boss to defeat. You are able to use Shurikens for long range attacks (check out the cool 90 degree arc of 8 shurikens move), kick for short range attacks, and the powerful Ninjitsu magic attack. You can also pick up upgrades from crates which include flaming shurikens, a sword and health. Whatch out for the time bombs though.

Cool intro, good size sprites, paralax scrolling backgrounds and check out the massive Godzilla type end of level boss. Depending on which version you have, you may also see the likes of Batman and Spiderman!

Some awesome tunes by Yuzo Koshiro, possibly some of the best ever on the Megadrive.

While not a conversion of the famous Shinobi coin-op, this still stands out as one of my favourite all time megadrive games, and really bought arcade action to the home.
